the brand evolution

As the successor to Hyp Golf, LIJA is the creation of Linda Hipp, an avid golfer and entrepreneur with a passion for fashion.

Hyp Golf was started by Linda in July 1997 as a result of her feeling a void in the golf market for a fashionable alternative in women’s golf apparel. Women’s golf fashion as an industry was a relatively late boomer. It was into this environment an innovative Linda Hipp stepped into the forefront with a fresh idea; to take trendy street fashions and bring it to today’s golfing woman to wear on the golf course and beyond as sportswear.

Establishing Hyp Golf, she proved herself ahead of the curve and brought a new excitement to a rather blasé fashion category. The line debuted with a mere 12 styles, but over the years Hyp Golf quickly gained the reputation as a pioneer of stylish, feminine fit styles in women’s golf apparel. This refreshing move caught the attention of the US golf media who quickly took this young company and made it the talk of the North American Golf scene.

Although the focus started off with golf, the fashion forward designs were embraced by golfers as well as non-golfers. With increased success in non-golf channels and building from the reputation of being a pioneer of stylish women’s golf apparel, the company rebranded to LIJA (a play on the word “leisure”) in August 2004 responding to the broad market acceptance.

Today, LIJA is a market leader in fashion-forward designs, featuring feminine and comfortable silhouettes inspired by the fusion of sport, leisure and fashion.
